Microsoft made a lot of bone-headed mistakes with Windows 10. For one, they relentlessly nagged users into upgrading to it from 7. They also gave it an out-of-the-box UI that included giant tiles, a nosy search feature that’s nearly impossible to turn off, and the world’s most ugly and feature-poor web browser.
But once you remove the giant tiles, kill off Cortana, and install a functional web browser, you’re left with a pretty solid operating system. It’ll never have the speed, simplicity, and security of Linux, but Microsoft has managed to achieve a fairly reliable experience for the home user after almost thirty years of trying. If you’re still running XP, it’s time to spring for a new computer. Call me if I can help. I can set you up for around $400 total.
